During the summer of 2020, California was on fire. Smoke filled the skies throughout the state and beyond. There was a period of a few days where many of us woke up, looked out the window and saw the sky all red and hazy. It felt like a scene in some dystopian movie and it was quite eerie.
That moment inspired a song called Red Skies. Brooke came up with the lyrics, melody and general feel, sang it in her phone and sent it over to Emil to see what he would come up with. Emil shot back with the main riff, rhythm track and some guitar parts, and the song was born. At the next rehearsal, the band put it all together and we had a great son.
We loved the song so much that we decided it would be great for our first video.
To make sure we capture the feel and mood of that moment in time, we wanted to make sure we could find some locations that had that scorched earth look. We found it pretty quickly right in our own neighborhood. Soon after, we got a film crew and started filming. We also got some really great drone footage. We can't wait to share this song and video with the world.
